Glam metal’s sons of mischief Steel Panther have taken aim at Kanye West following the recent Grammy Awards incident which saw Kanye almost not let Beck finish when the singer-songwriter took home Album Of The Year.
In typically provocative Steel Panther fashion, vocalist Michael Starr (real name Ralph Michael Saenz) has now taunted Kanye with a heartfelt piano ballad simply titled Kanye, which Steel Panther say is now up for consideration for next year’s Grammys.
Starr sings that Kanye has “a way with words” and “should’ve been a poet” because his music “sounds like hamster turds”. He says that Beck — who reacted pretty professionally to Kanye’s comments — should kick Kanye in the nuts with steel-toed boots to make it all right again.
Backlash about an off-colour joke about testicular cancer was headed off by the band pointing out their own previous awareness-raising efforts. Really, it’s just what we’ve come to expect from Steel Panther’s tongue-in-cheek humour.
