Red Deer Music & Arts Festival Is Returning In 2015

After being forced to take a hiatus in 2014, Brisbane’s arts and music festival Red Deer is returning in 2015. The event will be held in Mt. Samson this year on Saturday, 3rd October.

After difficulties with the local council in 2014, organisers have announced they have now managed to secure a permanent council permit to host the festival on the Mt. Samson site. Director Julian De Maria said the festival’s passionate supporters have made the last 18 months of chasing permits and filling in paperwork, bearable.

“We’ve always had amazing fans, but when we heard that there were over 200 letters to council from the public, begging for Red Deer to return, we were stunned and so proud,” he said. “It’s such a relief to know we can now plan for the future, with the security of a permanent permit on this beautiful festival site.”

Making its debut in 2010, the boutique festival is known form celebrating homegrown talent on its curated lineup. 2013’s event featured performances from the likes of The Grates, The Kite String Tangle, Chance Waters and Kingswood. 2012’s bill was headed by local rock heroes Regurgitator and Melbourne songstress Clare Bowditch.

The BYO couch-and-booze festival invites punters to set up and party any way they please. “We strive to deliver a fresh and relaxed homegrown experience, memorable for its good vibes, mutual respect and sense of soul,” said De Maria. “Red Deer is all about the experience, and we encourage our punters to make it their own.”

Artist Submissions are now open for bands who want a shot at making the 2015 lineup. Presale tickets for the October 3rd event will go on sale at 8am next Friday 27th March. See the launch video and festival website for more information.
