Florence + The Machine Shares Dark Video For New Song ‘St Jude’

Florence + The Machine have unveiled St Jude, the third track to be released from their forthcoming LP How Big How Blue How Beautiful.

Florence Welch and co. have developed a penchant over the years for thundering, climatic arrangements but St Jude sees them pull it right back with Welch’s voice accompanied by only a handful of softly spoken instruments.

The song has been released with an accompanying video pegged as “Chapter 2 of the How Big How Blue How Beautiful Odyssey”, according to the band’s Facebook. It follows on from the raucous, violent visual for first single What Kind Of Man. Both videos were directed by Vincent Haycock who’s also directed videos for Lana Del Rey and Paul McCartney.

How Big How Blue How Beautiful is due for release on 29th May and is Florence + The Machine’s first release since 2011’s Ceremonials. The album announcement was preceded by a video featuring a snippet of the title track from the album.

Welch and her band are beginning to line up a number of festival appearances to showcase the album in the live arena. Their first festival gig will be at Coachella in Palm Springs, California at the beginning of April. Florence + The Machine performed an intimate gig in London back in February playing four songs from the new record including the previously unheard Third Eye and the full version of How Big How Blue How Beautiful.
