Twisted Sister Are Breaking Up After One Final Tour

Hair metal heroes Twisted Sister have announced they will be hanging up their boots and unplugging the mics next year, after one last tour in celebration of their 40th anniversary.

TMZ reports a rep for the band confirmed Dee Snider and the band made the decision last month to call it quits, a week before drummer A.J. Pero died from a heart attack on March 20th. The band later took to Facebook to validate the story, writing, “It’s official! New drummer and farewell.”

According to the TMZ report, the band’s 2016 tour will be called “Forty and F** It”. It will feature longtime members Snider, guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda, bassist Mark Mendoza along with Adrenaline Mob drummer Mike Portnoy.

A.J. Pero was actually on tour with Adrenaline Mob when he died. Following Pero’s death, Jay Jay French spoke about the uncertainty of Twisted Sister’s future, telling Eddie Trunk, via Ultimate Classic Rock, “We are trying to confront the reality of it, because I don’t want to be in this forever.”

“Some bands are forever in that ozone area and continue to play on. But we need to look at this and say to ourselves, as a live entity, on which our reputation rests, How do we honour that history? How do we honour AJ? And how do we honour the fans’ loyalty?”

No tour dates or locations have been announced thus far.
