Ben Lee Announces 2015 East Coast Tour

Australian muso Ben Lee will soon release his keenly awaited new album Love Is The Great Rebellion and to celebrate, he will be performing at three intimate shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne this June.

Ben Lee’s run of east coast shows will start on Friday, 5th June at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge, continue on at Sydney’s Newtown Social Club and will wrap up at Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club. He’ll be playing both old favourites as well as cuts from the new album, due to hit shelves on May 29th.

“The album is called Love is the Great Rebellion. It’s about courage, in a sense,” Lee tells Music Feeds. “We started this conversation talking about things that I’ve done that are polarising and this album is about having the courage to follow your instinct and to do those things.”

As a mainstay in the music industry, the four-time ARIA Award winner has amassed an impressive, ever-evolving body of work with nine albums already to his name as well as this year’s surprise release, A Mixtape From Ben Lee. That project was 14 years in the making and features guest spots from the likes of Zooey Deschanel, Ben Folds, Sean Lennon, Neil Finn and more.

On this upcoming run of shows, Lee says he’s eager to showcase “the current sense” of what he does, but will not object to playing the favourites. “As a performer, there’s a part of me that takes a great joy in giving an audience what they want,” he explains.

“In order for you to have along and satisfying career, you have to find a balance between what you want and what they want.”
