Watch Teenage Green Day Play A High School Gig

Years before they penned Good Riddance, which would go on to become one of the most overplayed songs at high school graduations ever, punk rock superstars Green Day were themselves high school students, and now there’s a video to prove it.

Footage has emerged of Billy Joe Armstrong and co in their teenage years, performing a concert at their local high school, Pinole Valley High, back in 1990.

It features a lineup of Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and then-drummer John Kiffmeyer performing songs from Green Day’s first album 39/Smooth, which had just been released in April of that year.

The video itself was uploaded in 2013 but was recently unearthed and is now circulating across the interwebs.

Watch the goofy teenage American idiots, who would go on to become one of the biggest bands in the world, rock their campus in the 50-minute video, below.
