Chris Hemsworth Will Play The Receptionist In The ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth is set to join the cast of the new Ghostbusters film in a slightly unexpected role as the receptionist.

The movie’s director Paul Feig, announced the news on Twitter posting a picture of the actor with the caption, “Our receptionist. #whoyougonnacall.”

The gender-reversed reboot of the 1984 classic will see Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon play the four ghost-hunters – a part previously played by four men.

Hemsworth’s role as the receptionist was originally played by Annie Potts, who went by the name of Janine Melnitz in the film. We’re guessing Hemsworth might go with a different name when he takes on the role.

It’s a far cry from Hemsworth’s most iconic role as all-conquering superhero Thor, but it’s a genius move by Feig who’s clearly striving to breakdown gender stereotypes with his casting.

It’s worth also noting that Hemsworth hasn’t always been a superhero. He got his acting break in Australia playing surfer-boy Kim Hyde on Home & Away for three years..

Ghostbusters is due to hit screens mid-2016.
