Little May Unveil New Single ‘Home’

Earth-conquering Sydney folksters Little May have returned to the airwaves with a brand new single, Home, off their highly-anticipated debut album.

Produced and recorded by Aaron Brooking Dessner (The National), Home represents the first taste of what fans can expect from their forthcoming full-length, which is due out later this year.

Along with the release of the single, Annie Hamilton, Liz Drummond and Hannah Field worked alongside acclaimed producer Tim Sessler (Brooklyn Aerials) to create a music video that encapsulates their trademark haunting melodies and raw lyrics.

Set inside a converted nineteenth-century church in Hudson, New York, the clip for Home features studio footage cut together with vignettes depicting various neighbourhoods around the New York and Brooklyn areas.

Home was one of the first songs we recorded with Aaron,” the trio said of the release. “It’s an old song, revisited. It had been written three years prior, from a place where a sense of belonging was being constantly chased. I think we will always associate this song, and this whole album, with Hudson and the time we all spent there.”

“It’s quite surreal to finally reveal the first piece of our debut album,” they added via Facebook. “Working with Aaron Brooking Dessner has been a dream for us all. He has really captured the heart of our band and what we are about. We are forever grateful for the work that Aaron and Jonathan Low have put into this album… It is very special to us all.”

As for the exact release of the record, the band has not yet set an official date, but say it should drop “later in 2015”.

Little May are fresh from a performance at this year’s mammoth Bonnaroo festival, and are currently gearing up to tackle the UK’s equally epic Reading and Leeds Festival.
