Courtney Barnett Has Written ‘The Best Song Of 2015 So Far’, According To Rolling Stone

Now let’s get one thing straight. Courtney Barnett might not be everyone’s cup of Madura, but when an Aussie delivers the goods on the world stage, pig’s arse if we’re not going to give her a pat on the back and feel a pang of bloody pride because FUCK YEAH STRAYAAAA.

The Melbourne muso has just bagged the Rolling Stone ‘Best Song Of The Year So Far’ gong for the track Pedestrian At Best, off her internationally acclaimed album Sometimes I Sit and Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit.

The industry rag picked Barnett’s Dr-Seuss-meets-philosophy style riffer (which incidentally also just got added to the soundtrack of the newest Guitar Hero game) for the number 1 spot, ahead of fellow top 5 contenders Miguel and Wale with Coffee (Fucking), Kendrick Lamar with How Much a Dollar Cost, Taylor Swift with Style and Hop Along with Sister Cities.

The accolade follows a bonza year so far for Barnett, which has also seen her perform on the mainstage at Glastonbury, Win a SXSW award, tear up the US Billboard charts, wow TV talk show mogul Ellen DeGeneres and release her debut album to widespread acclaim.

She was also the only Aussie to make Rolling Stone‘s 25-act strong list.

On ya, Court, you little ripper.
