By now it should be common knowledge that SAFIA are Australia’s next big thing and they have proved that once again by dropping an excellent new single and revealing the dates for an extensive national tour.
The boys have debuted Embracing Me, which follows their previous singleCounting Sheep, and is the band’s fifth single since breaking onto the triple j airwaves with Listen To Soul, Listen To Blues.
With a new song in hand now is the perfect time to announce a tour and the Canberra lads haven’t held back with this one. They’re going to be traversing the country with a massive 15 dates locked in.
“We’re currently working on a whole bunch of stuff,” vocalist Ben Woolner told triple j this morning, hinting that their debut album is on the way. No doubt this tour will be a good chance for the band to try out some new material amongst fans.
The trio have spent the last few months in Europe and the US building up hype over there, but they have returned home to play Splendour In The Grass at the end of this month before embarking on this mighty tour.
triple j Unearthed newcomers Boo Seeka will be joining them on all dates, not including festival appearances. The tour kicks-off on Saturday 8th August in Western Australia and will come full-circle, ending more than a month later in the same state.
