Tumbleweed Announce ‘SuperGalactaphonic’ National Tour

Aussie rockers Tumbleweed released their second studio album, Galactaphonic, over 20 years ago. Now, in 2015, the band are reissuing the album with a new name — SuperGalactaphonic — and are taking their catalogue around the country on a national tour.

Tumbleweed’s SuperGalactaphonic national tour will see the band play shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Wollongong throughout August and September.

Galactaphonic, which was released in 1995, still makes up a large portion of Tumbleweed’s live show, and for good reason. As singer Richie Lewis says:

“Out of a tumultuous storm in the craziest of times Galactaphonic was like trying to bottle a wasp nest. But we had it, and in comparison to the first record I thought this one was vibrant and electric, dangerous and sweet. Every waking hour was about the band, we soaked up everything around us, mixed it up in our whirlpool and channelled it into the album.”

On 7th August 2015, two weeks before Tumbleweed’s national tour kicks off on 21st August, Galactaphonic will be reissued as SuperGalactaphonic — a collection of 34 tracks, including the original 13-track album, as well as b-sides, EP tracks, previously unreleased live tracks from triple j sessions and cassette demo recordings. Galactaphonic will also be making its way onto vinyl for the first time.

Tumbleweed disbanded in 2003, before reforming in 2009 and going on to release their latest album, Sounds From The Other Side, in 2013. The band suffered the sad passing of bassist Jason (Jay) Curley in 2014, but they haven’t lost their rock’n’roll spirit.
