Watch Jarryd James’ Soulful Cover Of Weezer’s ‘Say It Ain’t So’ For ‘Like A Version’

Owner of the most soothing falsetto in Australia right now, Brisbane muso Jarryd James dropped by the triple j studios this morning to spice up your Friday morning with a super soulful cover of Weezer’s hit Say It Ain’t So.

True to form, James imbued the original guitar-driven jam with his aforementioned smooth as silk falsetto vocals, transforming the pop punk anthem into a neo-soul slow burner, accompanied by delicate bluesy keys and a gentle guitar.

While in the studio, James also delivered a stripped back rendition of his breakthrough hit, Do You Remember. Catch footage of both performances, below.

Last we heard Jarryd James was “putting the finishing touches” to his debut album and said he was eyeing an August release date for it. While he couldn’t confirm a release date today, he did reveal that he has spent some time collaborating with the wonderful Julia Stone.

With the hype going strong, Jarryd James is about to make his first ever festival appearance at next week’s Splendour In The Grass.
