Cosmo’s Midnight – Walk With Me (feat. KUČKA)
You know that amazing feeling you get when you work on a track and then leave it for a while on your desktop, only to forget about it until years later and realise it’s a total gem so you call your new friend KUČKA who lays some delicate, yet super funky vocals over the top and then all of a sudden you’ve got yourself another certified jam, just before your anticipated Splendour In The Grass appearance?

Polographia – Rhythm
I woke up this morning to a dank and damp bedroom. The rain has managed to weave its wet fingers through my ceiling. One of my walls looks like a jackson pollock painting cum waterfall (ha cum waterfall). It would have felt like I was in a Waterworld prequel (aka a veritable hell) if it were not for Polographia.
Rhythm is the kind of song that can transfigure any moment of adversity into a thing of beauty. Instead of seeing corrosive mould in my room, I now feel like I am in the Thunderdome – future funk blares through the airwaves, and fat-but-thin synths shake my body.
Polographia have been doing exceedingly well recently with the likes of Tycho, Knxwledge, Shlohmo and Giraffage lauding their praise. / Luke Bodley, Presenter
Last Dinosaurs – Apollo
Fuck I’m happy Last Dinos are back on the scene, this week bringing us Space Odyssey: 2015 with new single off their just announced second album, Apollo.
Littered with some real poppy, twinkling flourishes and a smidge of Nile Rodgers-esque guitar which injects itself at seemingly random intervals along with their usual frenetic indie-rock melodies, it SHOULD be a dog’s breakfast, really, but somehow these divergent parts come together for three and half minutes of stratospheric bliss.

Mabel – Know Me Better
This is the debut track from Mabel and what a song to head out of the gates with. It’s a hard-hitting R&B jam that perfectly contours her full-bodied vocals. Melodically this one floats along but once it hits the chorus she injects a healthy dosage of gusto and transforms it from just another alt-R&B track into something memorable.
This is probably irrelevant given that the track stands on its own legs but Mabel is the daughter of Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack producer Cameron McVey. Far from someone riding on the coattails of her parents, Know Me Better establishes Mabel as a sensual yet heavy-hitting songstress with such enough cool to make people want to be here. Horrorwood Mannequins – Nightmares
Warning: Listening to Horrorwood Mannequins’ new single Nightmares could give you just that. Other potential side effects include cold sweats, compulsive shrieking, spontaneous urination, not to mention involuntary toe-tapping, head-banging, maniacal air-clawing and, in rare cases, all of the above simultaneously.
The Sydney horror punk act’s comeback single has risen from the abyss of 2015 like a reanimated corpse, diseased with groove and as dangerously infectious as the zombie saliva that fuels the plotlines of every movie ever spawned by the Dawn Of The Dead franchise. Propelled by dirty-danceable riffage and singer Audri Medicate’s cement mixer vocals, Nightmares will sink its teeth into your eardrums and then keep chewing. / Emmy Mack, Staff Writer
