A new Aussie music festival called The Lock-Up is set to bring homegrown tunes to the big house, with acts such as singer-songwriter Josh Pyke, local rockers The Basics and Brisbane muso Thelma Plum named on the event’s lineup.
Heading to Maitland Gaol in the Lower Hunter Valley on Saturday, 10th October, The Lock-Up will also feature sets from folk-pop artist Hayden Calnin, family indie-folk band The Soorleys and blues songstress De’May.
The Lock-Up is the second music event to form part of the Elsewhere series, which held its first event on the Newcastle coastline in March this year.
This time around, Elsewhere’s The Lock-Up festival will not only see some local artists doing some serious stage time, but will also see inmates festival-goers enjoying a boutique bar, some serious food in the The Mess Hall (BYO food tray for the authentic jailhouse experience) and even a trip on the prison bus to and from the event, if that’s the type of thing that floats your boat.
