Corey Taylor On Why Today’s Pop Music Is “Insulting”

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor isn’t shy about sharing his views on pretty much anything, whether it be Kanye West, “douchebag” Axl Rose or even music streaming services, and he’s now turned his attention to the world of modern pop.

In a recent interview with Loudwire, Taylor explains why he thinks today’s pop music is “insulting”.

“I feel like I’m being stung by 1,000 bees all at once,” Taylor says. “It’s so Auto-Tuned and it’s so beat-corrected and it’s so canned and processed and lifeless. You might as well be listening to a fucking piece of wood at that point.”

It doesn’t stop there, as Taylor tears into both pop musicians and their fans.

“It bothers me because I put so much into everything I do. I put so much into my music, I bleed for it, I die for it every goddamn night,” he says.

“To watch these people basically let a computer go through the motions and do all the work for them, it’s insulting to everyone out there who has more talent and less attention.

“I think people listen to it because they feel like that’s the only choice they have.”

What’s more, Taylor even shares some music advice for his kids, who he says are caught up in today’s kiddy bop pop tunes.

Elsewhere, Taylor has spoken to radio.com about why young metal fans tend to not care about the genre’s roots. Catch footage of both interviews, below.
