Sydney dance three-piece RÜFÜS are taking their new single You Were Right on a national tour this October, with dates locked in for Brisbane, Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Wollongong, Canberra and Sydney.
RÜFÜS’ You Were Right national tour begins on Friday, 16th October, and comes ahead of a set at Newcastle’s brand-new This That music festival at the end of that month.
The trio’s Aussie dates are part of their world tour behind You Were Right, which also includes November dates in the US under their North American pseudonym RÜFÜS DU SOL. Following the international dates, RÜFÜS will return down under for Falls Festival and Southbound over New Year’s.
RÜFÜS keyboardist Jon George says the group are super excited for the You Were Right tour, and have almost finished putting together a new album — the follow-up to 2013’s Atlas.
“We started the band just wanting to be able to play shows to our friends at parties, so to now be able to announce a tour that takes us all around Australia and to the other side of the Pacific to some of the most amazing cities in North America is amazing,” George says.
“We’ve been working so hard trying to put together an album of songs that we would want to hear, we’re very close to finished with the album and looking forward to get out there on a big stage playing these new songs to people for the first time.
“The reaction to You Were Right has been great, we’re excited to share the rest of the record with people.”
In perfect preparation for the You Were Right tour, RÜFÜS have given the track its own weightless and super-slow-motion music video.
“We worked with long time collaborator Katzki, who also happens to be my brother and has done every one of our videos,” George says. “The video is about a feeling. It’s the anticipation of a single moment and waiting for that moment of euphoria.”
