Funeral For A Friend Announce Break-Up & Final Australian Tour Dates

Hold on to your 13-year-old self’s heart, it might just be about to break, because Funeral For A Friend are officially calling it quits.

But the good news is, Aussie fans will have a chance to lay them to rest appropriately.

After releasing their seventh studio album Chapter And Verse and embarking on an Australian tour earlier this year, the Welsh post-hardcore outfit are set to return to our shores one last time for their global Last Chance To Dance Tour.

Kicking off in February of 2016, the fivesome will play six East Coast dates, two apiece in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, performing their debut album, 2003’s Casually Dressed & Deep In Conversation, in full one night, followed by their 2005 sophomore, Hours, from front to back the next.

“It’s the natural end,” explains clean vocalist Matthew Davies-Kreye. “We’ve done everything we set out to do and way more than I could ever have hoped so I’m not upset that it’s run its course. We all felt that Chapter And Verse was a pretty decent full stop on an incredible fourteen and half years of making music together.

“So, how do you celebrate a huge part of your life?” He continues. “You play some shows! For me it seemed obvious to go out with both Hours and Casually Dressed.. I feel that both those records distill what Funeral is to a whole load of people more definitively than just piecing together a set from all the records we’ve made.

“It seems to me that those are the records that matter most and Hours to me is my proudest achievement in music with Funeral. I don’t know why but it fills me with an overwhelming sense of pride.”

Tickets to Funeral For A Friend’s final curtain call go on sale from 9am this Friday, 18th September. Check out the full details, below.
