Jack White Tried To Fight The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney At A Bar, Apparently

Black Keys’ drummer Patrick Carney has accused Jack White of trying to punch-on with him at a New York City bar.

The percussionist took to Twitter to allege that White, whom has a well-documented history of hating on The Black Keys, tried to initiate a blues-rock biffo after catching sight of Carney’s self-professed nerdy visage.

Carney unfolded the tale via a series of Tweets, painting White as a jerk and a bully, before throwing in this pearler of a pot-shot: “Jack White is basically Billy Corgan’s dumb ass Zero t-shirt in human form.”

“I’ve never met Jack White until last night,” Carney explained on Twitter (via Consequence Of Sound). “He came to a bar in NYC I go to a lot with a few friends and tried to fight me. I don’t fight and don’t get fighting but he was mad!!!”

“He is why I play music,” Carney continued. “The bully assholes who made me feel like nothing. Music was a private non competitive thing… A 40 year old bully tried to fight the 35 year old nerd.”

White quickly responded to the claims, shooting back at Carney via a statement to Entertainment Weekly:

“Nobody tried to fight you, Patrick,” he said. “Nobody touched you or ‘bullied’ you. You were asked a question you couldn’t answer so you walked away. So quit whining to the Internet and speak face to face like a human being. End of story.”

But it seems that the whole ugly business has had a happy ending, of sorts.

The pair have held peace talks to settle their respective beefs, and have since expressed solidarity with one other, via Twitter.

White expressed similar sentiments via his label, Third Man Records’ Twitter page:

So perhaps this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the Black Keysman and the White Stripe.

Here’s a song that feels appropriate.
