Of Mice & Men’s Austin Carlile Is ‘Lucky To Be Alive’ Following Microphone Electrocution

Sometimes music can be a dangerous gig. Legs can get broken, stage invaders can kick you in the face and sometimes, your gear can malfunction and almost kill you.

That’s what happened to Of Mice & Men frontman Austin Carlile over the weekend. The singer says he’s “lucky to be alive” after getting electrocuted by his microphone.

In a series of Twitter updates, Carlile informed fans that he’d spent the last 24 hours in hospital receiving treatment for electrical burns after the mic malfunctioned and shocked him.

Though the frontman didn’t specify when or where the incident took place, he described it as a “close call for the heart” and likened the resulting pain to getting run over by a truck:

As Loudwire reports, the Of Mice & Men frontman is no doubt sick of the sight of hospitals, after spending much of 2015 recovering from multiple surgeries meant to alleviate some of the issues caused by his battle with Marfan Syndrome.

Of Mice & Men were only in Australia earlier this year as part of Soundwave 2015, but have been cautious about scheduling many other shows this year, until Carlile is back firing on all cylinders.

The Music Feeds crew would like to wish him a speedy recovery!
