Chris Brown Tickets Still On Sale Despite Australian Visa Ban

Organisers of Chris Brown‘s Australian tour have publicly responded to the Australian Government’s move to bar him from entering the country, imploring fans tickets to the shows will go on sale as planned.

The R&B singer’s visa application was officially slapped down by Immigration Minister Peter Dutton over the weekend, based on Brown’s domestic violence conviction against former flame, Rihanna.

But despite the intent to ban his visa, tickets to Breezy’s scheduled One Hell Of A Nite Australian Tour this December have just gone on sale, with an official statement from his management reading:

“Contrary to media reports, Chris Brown’s request to enter Australia on tour has not been denied. This request is currently being considered by the office of the Immigration Minister. We respect their right to review this request and have faith that a decision will be made with the full consideration of his continued personal growth, on-going philanthropic endeavors and desire to perform for his fans. Since 2009, Chris Brown has visited Australia on two separate occasions and is looking forward to returning in December.”

The Australian Government issued Brown with a notice of intent to refuse him a visa on Friday night (25th September), meaning the singer now has 28 days to appeal the decision, which it seems he has every intention of doing.

Responding to a sweary, asylum seeker-demonising fan on Instagram who was unhappy with the Aus Government’s decision to stiff Breezy with the old you-shall-not-pass, the singer called his visa denial “all media and bullshit”, and promised “I’m coming… We gone party”.

Brown’s intended visa ban comes at a time when DV has become a terrifying social epidemic in Australian society; 63 women have been killed as a result of it this year, and new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has just announced a $100 million dollar Federal package to combat the problem.

In 2009, Brown was sentenced to nine months probation for punching then-girlfriend Rihanna with a closed fist, dragging her out of a car and threatening to kill her.

The Australian Government revealed that they’d been seriously considering denying his Visa application after advocacy group GetUp! launched a petition calling for Brown to be denied entry to the country, earlier this month.

We’ll likely find out whether or not the decision to block him will be upheld by the end of October.

In the meantime, Brown’s tour promoters, Castor & Ford, have assured Team Breezy that, should the dates be cancelled, ticket-buyers will receive a full refund.

UPDATE 02/12/15: Just a week before it was scheduled to kick off, Chris Brown’s Australian and New Zealand tour has been officially cancelled.
