Sugar Mountain has unleashed the stellar lineup taking to Melbourne’s Victorian College of the Arts in January 2016, featuring the likes of British electro outfit Hot Chip, Aussie rockers Dirty Three and homegrown hero Courtney Barnett.
International acts such as Empress Of, Viet Cong and Julio Bashmore will also be heading down under for the Sugar Mountain 2016, whose local lineup boasts the likes of Alpine, City Calm Down and Royal Headache. Catch the full festival lineup, below.
These artists join rapper Le1f, who confirmed his own inclusion on the bill last week. It will be his first Australian performance since he appeared at Meredith in 2013.
Just like last year, Sugar Mountain 2016 won’t be all about the music, with an array of artists also named in the festival program, including Melbourne’s Nic Hamilton, Japan’s NONOTAK and a new Main Stage design from SIBLING.
Sugar Mountain had a break in 2014 but returned with in 2015 with musical acts like Ariel Pink, ODESZA and Nas. Next year’s Sugar Mountain goes down on Saturday, 23rd January 2016, and while capacity is still limited, organisers have introduced some new spaces, including the Melbourne Recital Centre.
The Boiler Room stage will also be returning, with all the action to be streamed live around the world. That stage’s program is still to be announced.
