Slipknot’s Jim Root Has Guitar Stolen During Show

A brazen thief has allegedly stolen a prized guitar belonging to Slipknot‘s Jim Root while the band were performing on stage in Portland, Oregon on Thursday night, 22nd October.

Posting a photo of the Fender axe to his Instagram after discovering it was missing, Root said, “This was just stolen from our jam room at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland. While we were on stage. Fucking thieves. Nothing worse.”

Root’s longtime girlfriend, Christina Scabbia of Italian metal band Lacuna Coil, also took to Instagram to let fans know what had happened, and to call for anyone with information to come forward.

“Someone stole this guitar from the Slipknot rehearsal room while they were on stage tonight at the Memorial Coliseum Portland,” she said, before addressing the possibility that a Slipknot fan might be the culprit.

“If you’re a real fan I can understand you want to have something that belongs to your idol, but that’s the wrong way to do it and it is depriving another person of something that might mean memories and something more than an ‘item’,” she said.

“If whoever got this guitar is reading this PLEASE take it back or send me a private message! We can all do something stupid and taking it back is what can bring a lot of honor back to you. From zero to hero! Think about it and be a man.”

The stolen guitar was made specifically for Root by Fender, is satin silver in colour and features a patina copper pick guard. Its serial number, which will come in handy in the search, is US11278640.

Root will now be down one guitar for Slipknot’s performances at California’s Aftershock and Knotfest festivals this weekend.

The group’s frontman, Corey Taylor, was robbed of over $36,000 of equipment in 2013, but was lucky enough to recover 98 per cent of it.
