Some truly horrible news coming out of Romania over the weekend, with reports that over 27 music fans have died and around 180 injured after a metal gig in the country’s capital suffered a horrendous fire.
400, mostly teenage, attendees were at the Colectiv Club Friday night to see local metal outfit Goodbye To Gravity, when a fire broke out, allegedly from pyrotechnics that were part of the show.
The fireworks quickly spread to the clubs pillars and then ceiling, reports say, with many fans unaware the fire was out of control, believing it to simply be apart of the show, before it was too late, causing a rush for the singular door to get out, which quickly became blocked.

Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis has declared three days of national mourning after the events, reports BBC, also saying he believes legal evacuation regulations were not properly in place.
“I am saddened, but also revolted that a tragedy of this scale could have taken place in Bucharest,” he said. “We already have indications that the legal regulations had not been respected. I hope that the authorities manage their inquiry with speed and rigour.”
Romanians across the country have come together in the wake of the tragedy, with hundreds of people responding to appeals for blood donations queuing outside hospitals and blood banks on Saturday.
