Musicians around the world have united to share their love and support following the horrific news of over 100 deaths at an Eagles Of Death Metal show in Paris which was stormed by armed attackers overnight.
While all attackers are now reported to be dead, the death toll from their attack during EODM’s set at the Bataclan Theatre has risen to at least 118. The gig’s Facebook event page is still be filled with messages of support, while musicians have taken to social media to share their condolences, with some revealing just how close they came to being stuck in Paris last night.
Aussie band Closure In Moscow performed in Paris overnight, and have taken to Facebook to say they are all safe and heading out of the city. “Our thoughts and love go out to everyone that has been effected by this terrible night so far,” they say.
Sydney outfit What So Not also managed to make it out of Paris, and are now considering themselves very lucky. “Love to everyone in Paris right now,” they posted to Facebook. “We left 2 hours before it all went down, feeling lucky. Please be careful friends.”
Since the incident, EODM have issued only one statement:
We are still currently trying to determine the safety and whereabouts of all our band and crew. Our thoughts are with all of the people involved in this tragic situation.
