Search Called Off For Woman Who Went Overboard At Mad Decent Boat Party

The search for a woman who reportedly threw herself overboard at Diplo’s Mad Decent Boat Party festival has been called off, and she is yet to be found.

As SFGate reports, the search for the woman, identified as 24-year-old Kaylyn Sommer, has been suspended by US Coast Guard authorities.

These authorities called off their search on Saturday, with Captain Todd Coggeshall saying, “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones affected by this terrible tragedy.

“We are all sons and daughters, and many of our responders have young children themselves. Suspending search efforts is always a painful decision, particularly when it involves a young mother.”

FBI agents have now taken over the investigation into the disappearance of Ms Sommer, who went overboard during the party on Thursday night, after it had left the Port of Miami in Florida that afternoon. Party officials cancelled the remainder of the four-day festival and turned their ship around.

In a statement made before the Coast Guard cancelled their search, Mad Decent Boat Party said, “During the chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel.

“The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities.”

Diplo is said to have performed as part of Major Lazer as the ship returned to Miami.
