Eagles Of Death Metal Speak For The First Time Since Paris Attacks

Eagles Of Death Metal have released a statement saying that “love overshadows evil,” speaking out for the first time since their Paris gig was stormed by gunmen claiming 89 lives during citywide terrorist attacks.

“While the band is now home safe, we are horrified and still trying to come to terms with what happened in France,” they wrote on their Facebook page, paying tribute to their merch man Nick Alexander and “record company comrades” Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez who all lost their lives at the Batlacan concert hall.

“Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion.”

The band have understandably cancelled all gigs until further notice but took the opportunity to send a message of strength to their followers.

“We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the U.S. and French State Departments, and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil,” they wrote.

“Vive la musique, vive la liberté, vive la France, and vive EODM.”

Fans who were at the concert and survived the attack have taken to the Facebook page to recount their terrible experiences and offer their condolences to the families and friends of those who weren’t lucky enough to escape.

“They tried to kill me and my wife while dancing in front of our favourite band, thankfully they failed,” one fan wrote.

“The healing can now begin, and it starts with listening to EODM again….”

Another wrote that it’s “hard to realise the horror.”

“I remember how the first part of the show was very good and there was a so good atmosphere in the place, in a few seconds it was hell on earth.”

Nobody from the band was injured in the attack. The support act White Miles also survived the attack and took to Facebook to tell their follows to “celebrate life.”
