5 Seconds Of Summer, Birds of Tokyo, Troye Sivan, KLP, Tuka, Justice Crew, The Potbelleez and heaps of other big-name Aussie artists will help launch a new campaign for grassroots youth mentoring charity, Musicians Making A Difference (MMAD).
#MMAD4U Day, a joint initiative by MMAD and Universal Music, will officially kick off on Monday, 23rd of November in a bid to help raise awareness about the work that the charity does to help change young lives, through the power of music and mentoring.
MMAD uses music to help around 20,000 at-risk and traumatised young people each year, and ten such youngsters whose lives have been transformed by the charity does have come together to write a new song, dubbed simply MMAD4U, to inspire others like them to never give up hope.
The track was recorded at The Grove Studios by Scott Horscroft, with the help of Aussie artists Tuka and KLP, and is available to purchase now, with all proceeds going to help the work MMAD does.
And if it’s not impressive enough that these 10 so-called “rising star” young’ns wrote the song themselves, they also worked on all aspects of the #MMAD4U Day campaign, creating the logo and even coming up with the accompanying merchandise, which includes tees, caps, tote bags, stickers and beanies.
“We wanted to try and reach out to kids that don’t have support or belief in themselves and let them know that opportunities do exist!” one of the kids said. “You just have to believe in yourself and have the strength to make the right choices. The MMAD crew helped us through dark times to change our future. Support and respect from others can change everything inside you and around you.”
Based in Sydney but with a national reach, MMAD aims to encourage and establishes an environment of support and a sense of family for vulnerable young people, and offers a creative safe-haven where they are empowered to use their own unique talents to make a difference in their lives and within the wider community.
It seeks to help young people break negative cycles, feel a sense of self-worth and make positive choices so they can find their place in the world.
