Tonight Alive Have A New Song Out, And It Shows Just How Much Their Sound Has Changed

Sydney’s Tonight Alive have just sliced off a second bite from their forthcoming album Limitless and the tune, dubbed To Be Free, shows just how much the band’s sound has changed from their proud pop-punk roots.

We’re not saying that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but it is a thing.

To Be Free is a production-heavy jam with a bit of a nineties vibe, and it’s pretty much pure unadulterated pop.

The uplifting, feelgood track follows their new disc’s debut single, Human Interaction, which was similarly light on the rockin’ and frankly wouldn’t have sounded out of place on a Delta Goodrem record (the video clip even stars frontwoman Jenna McDougall sans band… could Sony be positioning her as a solo artist?)

But whether or not you’re a fan of Tonight Alive’s bold new sonic direction, you can’t deny that the band are absolutely killing it right now.

Following their upcoming east coast Aussie tour and high-billed slot at UNIFY 2016 next year to celebrate the release of their new album, the gang will be embarking on a mammoth tour across Europe and the US.

Tonight Alive’s third studio LP Limitless is due out on March 4th, 2016.
