Soundwave GM Chris O’Brien Launches New Management Company What A Vibe

UPDATE 17/12/15 5.50pm: Soundwave 2016 has been officially cancelled.

Soundwave General Manager Chris O’Brien has launched a new management company called What A Vibe, which has already signed Melbourne band Storm The Sky.

In its first-ever Facebook post, What A Vibe says, “Forget all the bullshit hyperbole and adjectives like forward thinking, creative, ground breaking, unparalleled work ethic, passion, commitment blah blah blah. This is just a boy standing in front of a band asking them to be managed by him…and they said yes!”

In the same post, Storm The Sky welcome Mr O’Brien to their team, and say there was just a little bit of schmoozing involved in the deal.

“We couldn’t be happier to have him on board (how could we not be after he took us out for a lovely Japanese meal) and we’re very excited about what we’re going to achieve together in the future,” the band say.

The launch of What A Vibe comes on the same day that Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah said the festival “definitely” won’t be returning in 2017, and also refused to guarantee the festival will go ahead in 2016. Mr O’Brien has worked with Maddah for around 20 years.
