Nothing But Thieves Cancel Australian Tour After Soundwave Cancellation

Soundwave 2016 act Nothing But Thieves have officially canned their Australian tour dates, following the cancellation of the festival.

The British rock five-piece – who kind of sound like Jeff Buckley and Royal Blood had a musical baby – announced today that they will not be undertaking their maiden voyage to our shores in January, where they were scheduled to perform a trio of headlining dates in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.

“Really gutted to let you know that Soundwave has been cancelled and as a result, our AUS headlining shows as well,” said the band in a statement. “We’ve been dying to get out there after all the support we’ve had from you guys and Triple J, and we were really looking forward to this tour.

We apologize for any inconveniences…but we are working on coming out later in the year, and will keep you posted! In the meantime, refunds for our headlining shows can be arranged at point of purchase.”

It comes as fellow SW16 act NOFX scrap their entire tour and sideshow plans, while many other bands on the now-defunct lineup promise to return to our shores with their own tours, as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, there is some good news on the horizon for SW16 ticket holders as after days of back and forth, the festival’s ticket agent Eventopia has finally agreed to issue fans their refunds.
