Vaginal Speaker ‘Babypod’ Wants Fetuses To Hear Music More Clearly, For Some Reason

It sounds like a joke, but a new intravaginal speaker called Babypod is promising to give expecting mothers the ability to share the latest Death Grips album with their unborn child for only AUD$186.

Released under the tagline “Music Is Life”, Babypod is essentially a weird-as-hell speaker which delivers tunes to unborn bubs via the vaginal canal. Think of it as a sort of musical tampon.

Babypod’s creators say they have research which shows the product helps fetuses react and vocalise in the womb, which supports their early development. While music can actually support fetal development, Babypod is still a pretty ridiculous product.

In great news for all those unborn audiophiles out there, Babypod’s creators say, “By placing a speaker inside the vagina, we overcome the barrier formed by the abdominal wall and the baby can hear sounds with almost as much intensity and clarity as when emitted.”

Babypod comes with a case, a carry bag (so you can use it “wherever you want”) and a pair of headphones so you and your bub can listen to that Death Grips album (or maybe Nirvana’s In Utero) at the same time, whether the baby likes it or not.

Babypod has already been used at the world’s first concert for fetuses (we’re not joking, there’s footage of it below), and apparently has at least one active user.
