Ex-Soundwave General Manager Joins Destroy All Lines As Head Of Touring

Former Soundwave General Manager Chris O’Brien is keeping his love of metal alive following the festival’s sad demise. He’s just been announced as the new head of touring for leading Australian heavy music promoter, Destroy All Lines.

As The Music reports, O’Brien stuck with Soundwave since its birth in 2007, and over the past two decades has worked on all sides of the Australian music industry. He’s run a record label, a booking agency, countless music venues, plus the 2014 Harvest Festival and Vans Warped Tour.

“I am thrilled to be heading up this passionate team of music lovers with a renewed core focus to work alongside our artists to continually develop and nurture their careers within Australia,” O’Brien said of the new gig.

“It’s also an incredible opportunity to be working alongside industry leaders in Chugg Entertainment.”

According to Destroy All Lines owner Ben Turnbullthe feeling’s mutual.

“The addition of his knowledge, experience and leadership means 2016 is off to a great start for Destroy All Lines,” he said.

Destroy All Lines have made a huge contribution to Australia’s live music scene over the past 13 years, bringing us a number of huge international and local tours – recently from the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society, Ne Obliviscaris and more – as well as nightclubs like Hot Damn, Bang, Last Night & MMRS.

Today’s news comes after O’Brien launched his new management company, What A Vibe.
