Linkin Park Have Started Recording A New Album

Linkin Park have officially hit the studio to start work on their seventh studio LP.

The band broke the news to fans online, with a message on their homepage reading “We’re just getting started in the studio on a new album”.

They’ve also given us visual confirmation, posting a snap of frontman Chester Bennington singing into a studio mic, along with the caption “back to work this week”:

In November of last year, Bennington resigned from his temporary post as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, with the intention of re-focusing on Linkin Park.

“In all fairness to my bandmates in Linkin Park, as well as to myself and to my family, I’m going to focus solely on Linkin Park so I can contribute 100%,” he said in a statement t the time. “It’s been an amazing experience and a dream come true, and I look forward to the future of both STP and Linkin Park.”

The nu-metal chiefs are working on the follow up to their 2014 album, The Hunting Party, which represented a return to the heavier 90’s rock sound of their seminal records.

In an interview with AltWire last year, producer and multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda indicated that the band’s next effort would showcase a different side to their sound.

“I’m really happy with the reaction from The Hunting Party, and I think we’re ready to move somewhere new on the next album,” he said, adding that they were hoping for a 2016 release.

Guess that means we’re… One Step Closer.
