Steel Panther Announce Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage Film and Acoustic Album

Big haired and tight panted glam rock powerhouse Steel Panther have just announced they will be releasing their first full length feature film, Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage. Featuring a ten-song live acoustic concert (glam folk is finally happening?) and comedic vignettes the film promises to showcase the band’s “unmatched shenanigans and debauchery”.

Set to be released on  CD and DVD (the film coming bundled with a copy of the album), Live From Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage was taped in Los Angeles last October before a live studio audience. Although in a classic Steel Panther twist, the audience was made up of 100 “scantily clad women (and one old creepy fat guy who somehow got a ticket)” all crammed into the unusually well lit and spacious garage.

The film features all the great Steel Panther hits like Party Like Tomorrow Is The End Of The World and Community Property plus one new song titled, Then You Came In, stripped back to their sensual acoustic best. And in keeping with the traditions of rock bands making films, several female violin players have also been enlisted to fill out the tracks, who are “very easy on the eyes,” according to the band’s irrepressible and as yet not convicted drummer Stix.

As you would imagine from a band who have made a career out of crude sexual innuendo and just seriously amazing hair, most of the comedic scene center around figuring who they can or can’t have sex with, or what venereal diseases they all might have. It’s all blow jobs and dead bodies in the trailer, which you can watch below and makes for some pretty entertaining viewing.

Meanwhile due for release on February 26th by the band’s own label Open E Records via Kobalt Label Services, you can pre-order it from JB Hi-Fi here.
