American singer-songwriter extraordinaire Prince is set to return to Australian shores later this month as part of his Piano & A Microphone tour.
Prince’s plan for new Aussie shows was unveiled in a surprise announcement today, but the exact tour dates and venues are still to be revealed. One thing is for sure, though, the Purple One (or at least whoever’s controlling his Twitter account now) is really excited about it:

US dates of Prince’s Piano & A Microphone tour have seen him perform in intimate setting with only a piano and a microphone at his disposal.
In a statement regarding those shows, organisers said, “For those lucky enough to attend, everything about these exclusive solo performances has been carefully considered to deliver special once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
“The repertoire list will be culled from Prince’s vast 39-album catalogue and each performance will have a unique set-list that evolves in real time song-to-song. Fans should expect to witness special interpretations of well-known hits, alongside rarely performed B-sides and new never-before-heard material.”
Prince last toured Australia in May 2012 on his Welcome 2 tour, which featured shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. He has released four albums since that tour: Plectrumelectrum, Art Official Age, HITnRUN Phase One and HITnRUN Phase Two.

SPECIAL TICKETING ARRANGEMENTS:
Ticket purchases for the show will be limited to two (2) tickets per person via the venues and ticketing companies noted above. No tickets will be distributed. At the time of purchase, the purchaser’s name will be recorded and a corresponding receipt issued. Physical tickets will only be available for collection from noon on the night of the concert. Photo ID will be required to match the name previously advised and individuals will be wrist-banded before entering the auditorium.
