Have These Bunch Of Acts Been Ruled Out Of The Splendour In The Grass 2016 Lineup?

Original Story: Splendour In The Grass 2016 is still over five months away, but a bunch of big-name acts look like they’ve already been ruled out of the festival’s lineup.

Canada’s WayHome Music & Arts Festival, which takes place over the same weekend as Splendour this year (22nd to 24th July), is the event which will be held responsible if its newly-announced acts miss Splendour because of the date clash.

Aside from its headliners Arcade Fire, The Killers and the reformed LCD Soundsystem, WayHome is also hogging the likes of Chet Faker, FKA Twigs, Future, Mac DeMarco, The Last Shadow Puppets, Foals, AlunaGeorge, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Wolf Parade and Savages.

What’s more, the lineup for Detroit’s Mo Pop Festival was announced earlier this week, and is also making it difficult for a number of acts to squeeze in a Splendour 2016 appearance, including the likes of Glass Animals, Haim, M83, Father John Misty and FIDLAR. Other international music festivals taking place around Splendour 2016 include Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival (which is yet to announce its lineup) and Newport Folk Festival, which has already locked in the likes of Raury and Ray Lamontagne.

Splendour In The Grass 2016 is set to take place at North Byron Parklands from 22nd to 24th July, with onsite camping from Wednesday, 20th July. The festival’s first major lineup announcement is expected in April, but there’s already been a strong push to get none other than Shannon Noll to grace the roster.

Last year’s uber-muddy Splendour shindig featured the likes of Florence + The Machine, Blur, Mark Ronson, Of Monsters & Men, The Wombats, Tame Impala and Peking Duk. Catch the acts which may have just been ruled out of this year’s lineup in the festival posters below.
