Foxtel Is Closing Down Channel V This Week

Dedicated Australian music channel Channel V Australia is ceasing operations, and will no longer exist in its current form.

Music Feeds understand that Channel V, which is part of the Foxtel Network, will merge with other Foxtel music channel [V] Hits, and will operate as a music video based channel with no “long form” content. There will also be a V Hits +2 channel.

The online arm of Channel V will continue to operate as is for the time being. Foxtel’s other music channels Max, Country Music and Smooth will remain broadcasting, but similar to [V] Hits will only operate as a music video based channels. Which means long form content like the much loved and long running “Max Sessions” will be no more.

The merger will begin to take place this weekend, and the channel’s new branding is expected to completed by the end of March.

The stalwart channel has helped launch the careers of many beloved Aussie presenters and personalities including Danny Clayton and Osher Günsberg, who have each taken to Twitter today to confirm the news and reflect on their time at the station.

Thanks for the memories, guys.
