UPDATE 28/02/16: Blue Wiggle Anthony Field has spoken exclusively to Music Feeds about the original lineup’s “incredible” first-ever 18+ show.

ORIGINAL STORY: Nostalgia is a bloody powerful thing.

Powerful enough to compel hundreds of fully-grown adults to spend their Friday night watching four veteran kids’ entertainers dance around and sing songs about hot potatoes, fruit salads, big red cars and rock-a-byeing bears – without a kid in sight.

And that’s exactly what happened at Sydney’s Dee Why RSL last night when the original Wiggles lineup reunited to perform their first adults-only pub show.

The completely sold-out “once in a lifetime” event attracted hundreds of grown-up 90’s kids, who came to have a Wiggly old time with Greg, Murray, Anthony, Jeff and their pals Wags The Dog, Captain Feathersword and, of course, Dorothy The Dinosaur.

And from everything we’ve seen online so far, the whole thing looked like a Romp Bomp a Stompin’ incredible time.

For starters, the bar looked like this:

Amazing.

Not to mention – this scene of around 800 rowdy adults hollering drunkenly at Jeff probably accounts for the most aggressive wake-up call that the now 62-year-old Purple Wiggle has received in his entire career:

Outstanding.

And just try not to grin like an idiot as you observe all of these well-pissed twenty-somethings performing synchronised Wiggles choreography to Can You (Point Your Fingers And Do The Twist) and Rock-a-bye Your Bear with the enthusiasm of a Kindergarten student gunning for a gold star.

As one punter eloquently put it whilst capturing the moment on Instagram: “Holy shit. Everyone is wasted and losing it”.

And HOLY SHITSAUCE is that Anthony driving the car I made out of the box our TV came in back in Year 2?

But easily the most magical moment of the night occurred when Dee Why RSL suffered a freaking blackout, which you’d have thought would have taken a big old dump on everyone’s wiggly parade.

But instead, the raucous crowd began a gladiatorial chant demanding Hot Potato, and The Wiggles served it up to them sizzling, returning to the stage for an impromptu acoustic singalong in the pitch darkness with the hundreds of fans whose childhoods were shaped by their feelgood tunes, enthusiastic dance moves, smiling faces and rainbow coloured sweaters.

The adults-only reunion party was chucked to celebrate the group’s 25th anniversary, with all proceeds raised going to help their mate, wounded war veteran David Savage, and also to raise awareness for the Soldier On foundation which helps physically and physiologically wounded men and women returning from service.

Original Wiggles, we salute you.

Check out more glorious footage from their one-off concert below (including cameos from Dorothy, Wags & Feathersword) and feel your childhood come flooding back to you like a leak in the backyard swimming pool that Henry The Octopus calls home.
