Amanda Palmer returns to the Sydney Opera House

Everybody’s favourite punk-cabaret artist Amanda Palmer has just announced she will be once again visiting our lovely country, returning to the Opera House, along with a collection of collaborators. Creatively titled Amanda Palmer Goes Down Under: An Australia Day Spectacular, the event will be a celebration of our national day, done in a fashion only the inimitable Miss Palmer could.

Along for the ride this time are her fiance and Sandman author Neil Gaiman, the sequined mistress of post-modern burlesque Meow Meow as well as Balkan lotharios Mikelangelo & The Black Sea Gentlemen amongst others.

Speaking of the tour Palmer says, “I can’t wait to get back…I can smell the vegemite from here already. After my magical show at the Opera House last year, it feels like a fitting homecoming to celebrate my new Oz-themed record, Amanda Palmer Goes Down Under, this time in the Concert Hall with my better half in tow.”

With her performances usually blurring the line between theatre and music, and each tour presenting it’s own unique style and themes, one can only guess what to expect. Still that’s sort of the point.
