DJ Premier And Pete Rock To Work On Split Album

Gang Starr‘s DJ Premier and legendary producer Pete Rock have just announced that they will be working on a joint album together, with each producer to tackle 6 tracks off the 12 track record. With Guru having died earlier this year, Premier has wasted no time getting back on the horse, working with Kanye West as well as bringing in Blaq Poet, Nick Javas and Freddie Foxxx for his solo album Get Used To It, but this latest announcement looks set to top them all.

Telling Beats, Boxing, Mayhem, that the album will be full of “rare artists in the industry where everyone is going to be like ‘oh shit, how’d you get with him?’” so far the hip hop legends have remained tight lipped about who they’re recruiting, not even telling each other who they’re working with. That is except for Wu Tang‘s GZA of course, who has been announced to be on Premier’s side of the album.

With the duo hoping to have recording finished by the end of this year, not having announced a release date, this release is more than exciting for any old school hip hop fan. Try not to let your imaginations run too wild over who’ll be popping up.
