Iggy Pop Posed Nude For An Art Class And Now His Naked Body Will Be On Display In A Gallery

Iggy Pop‘s nude body is going to be on display for an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.

He doesn’t have to stand there while people gaze at him in his birthday suit though, the 68 year-old frontman posed nude for a 21-student life drawing class at the New York Academy of Art and now those artwork are on display. According to Pitchfork, the artworks were done by artists ranging in age from 19 to 80.

Aptly named Iggy Pop Life Class the exhibition will start later this year at the Brooklyn Museum and then will move around to different locations.

It was conceived by artist Jeremy Deller who said, “The life class is a special place in which to scrutinize the human form.”

“As the bedrock of art education and art history, it is still the best way to understand the body. For me it makes perfect sense for Iggy Pop to be the subject of a life class; his body is central to an understanding of rock music and its place within American culture. His body has witnessed much and should be documented.”

Iggy Pop currently has another project in the works right now which contains far less nudity. He’s collaborating with Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme for a record called Post Pop Depression which will be release this month.
