Spotify Just Leaked Details Of A Surprise New Kendrick Lamar Album

Original Story: Details of what seems to be an untitled new Kendrick Lamar album have appeared on streaming service Spotify, sending music fans into a tailspin over the possibility that a new Kendrick album is on its way.

Titled unassumingly untitled unmastered., the album contains eight songs which at this stage only feature names such as untitled 01 08.19.2014 and untitled 08 09.06.2014. The names suggest these track were recorded across 2013, 2014, and 2016, though none of the tracks are available to stream as of yet. There is no mention of a specific release date, but it is listed as a 2016 release.

According to Spin, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, the CEO of independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) – home to Kendrick Lamar – said earlier this week that he was going to release a project soon.

“I won’t say wut day or who. It cud be 2nite So don’t ask me jus stay close to the net. Is this Kool with y’all?,” he wrote on Instagram.

If this is indeed a surprise follow up album to Kendrick Lamar’s critically acclaimed and Grammy winning To Pimp A Butterfly, it wouldn’t be the first time he dropped an album unexpectedly. To Pimp A Butterfly arrived a week early, seemingly in celebration of the 20th anniversary of 2Pac’s Me Against The World.

Kendrick will be in Australia soon, as a headliner for Bluesfest 2016 as well as for his own headline shows. Maybe, just maybe, he’ll have even more new material on offer for us.
