UPDATE 07/03/16: It’s confirmed. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have locked in an August 2016 Australian tour.
Original Story: It looks like we’re going to get a Macklemore and Ryan Lewis tour in August if a poster spotted in Sydney is anything to go by.
A Sydneysider with an astute eye (via triple j) snapped a picture of a poster which advertised a Saturday 6th August Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert at Sydney’s Allphones Arena.
“We only have a Sydney date so far, but if this is official, it’s more than likely that more dates around the country will come to hand soon.
“The rapper/producer pair released their latest album This Unruly Mess I’ve Made last month, their first since their breakthrough record The Heist which featured their Hottest 100-topping track Thrift Shop.
Speaking to Music Feeds in February, Macklemore said that an Australian tour was “definitely happening this year”.
“If I’m honest, out of the whole world tour that we’re planning, Australia is the place that I’m most looking forward to coming back to,” he said.
“The fans are crazy, Downtown did really well there and we’re guaranteed amazing shows every single time. I can promise it’s going to be huge.”
“This will be the first time the duo have played shows in the country since they were on the bill for the now non-existent Future Music Festival in 2014.
If the poster is to be believed, and it looks pretty legit, tickets for the Sydney show go on sale Friday 11th March at midday local time.
