Crosby, Stills & Nash is no more. The folk-rock supergroup that is guitarist-vocalist David Crosby, multi-instrumentalist Stephen Stills and vocalist Graham Nash is doomed to never perform again after an altercation between members David Crosby and Graham Nash reached boiling point.
Speaking to Dutch magazine Lust For Life, Nash vowed that he would never perform with the group again because of his deteriorating relationship with Crosby.
“I don’t like David Crosby right now,” Nash admitted. “He’s been awful for me the last two years, just fucking awful. I’ve been there and saved his fucking ass for 45 years, and he treated me like shit.”
He continued: “You can’t do that to me. You can do it for a day or so, until I think you’re going to come around. When it goes on longer, and I keep getting nasty emails from him, I’m done. Fuck you!”
Nash conceded that Crosby “has ripped the heart out of Crosby, Stills & Nash” and that, although he’s “sad” about the music they have potentially missed out on making together, he’s “done.”
The Lust For Life interview wasn’t the only one where Nash took the chance to air his animosity towards Crosby. Later talking to Billboard, Nash said: “Right now, I don’t want anything to do with Crosby at all. It’s just that simple. In my world there will never, ever be a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young record and there will never be another Crosby, Stills & Nash record or show.”
Crosby has a history of causing angst in the band. Back in 2014 Neil Young had a few things to say about the guitarist after he had referred to Young’s girlfriend Daryl Hannah a “purely poisonous predator.”
“Playing with Stills and Nash was really great,” Young said afterwards in an interview with TV personality Howard Stern. “I wish Crosby the best with his life. There’s love there, there’s just nothing else there.” The friendship proved irreparable.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young last performed together in October 2013 and Crosby, Stills & Nash haven’t played together since rounding up their 2014-15 world tour.
