Jon English Has Died At Age 66

British-born, Australian-based rock legend Jon English has passed away at the age of 66.

A statement released by Ambition Music Group confirmed the passing and said that it was due to “post-operative complications.”

“At the time of his passing he was surrounded by his four children, Jessamin, Josephine, Jonnie and Julian, his wife Carmen, his sister Janet, his brother Jeremy, his nephews Jay and Jasper Collie, his grandson Jzawo and other close family members.”

Last month fans were told that English was in hospital waiting to undergo a “small operation”. He had to cancel shows in order to do so but rescheduled them for September.

Earlier this week he pulled out of a gig in Newcastle, assuring fans that, “he will be back to full health and rocking out on stage with you all again very soon.”

English rose to fame starring as Judas in an early ’70s version of stage musical Jesus Christ Superstar. He then went onto collect a Logie in 1979 for his role in television series Against the Wind and starred in a number of Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.

Throughout his career releasing albums and working on stage and in musicals he collected a total of four ARIA awards.
