Producer Butch Vig Says There Are Actually No Plans For The Second Bit Of Foo Fighters’ ‘Sonic Highways’

Producer Butch Vig has revealed that the second instalment of Foo Fighters‘ album and documentary project Sonic Highways has not come “to fruition yet”.

As a quick recap: Foos’ Sonic Highways LP was released in 2014, with a music documentary from Dave Grohl dubbed Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways dropping that same year.

The band had been rumoured to be sorta maybe be working on a follow-up record alongside season 2 of the doco, but in a new interview with The Daily Beast Vig has confirmed that there are “no plans for more Foos”.

Although he did admit to having made plans to work with Grohl on some new songs, later this year.

Vig also opened up about Grohl’s role in Nirvana’s Nevermind during the Beast interview.

Speaking lovingly of the then-drummer, he said, “Dave was a breath of fresh air because he had this goofy sense of humour. He was so young.”

“He brought this great energy, sang a lot of the background vocals, and had this great voice… All we had to do was capture when Kurt was focused and there 100 percent.”

Don’t we know it.

The last Foos release was the free EP Saint Cecilia, which dropped last November.

In other news, the band are definitely not breaking up but may currently be on an indefinite hiatus.
