The Vines Return With Psychedelic New Single About Your Favourite Sega Master System Game

Prepare to have your eardrums screamed-at and your stages trashed because The Vines are back with a brand new single and album announcement.

That’s right, Australia’s alternative rock sons have returned with their latest slice of retro-inspired rock n’ roll off their forthcoming seventh studio LP, and it’s an ode to the greatest retro video game of all time (well I guess all Sega games are retro nowadays *sigh*).

The tune, dubbed In Miracle Land, name-checks the titular monkey-boy from Alex Kidd In Miracle World.

You know, the game that was built into your Master System II console and was virtually un-winnable because technology hadn’t yet advanced to a point where you could save the fuck.

Here we go again. Let’s see if we can make it past that c*nting octo-turd in the underwater level this time!

Anyway, the tune itself is an undulating, psychedelic rock n’ roll number reminiscent of late-era Beatles gems like Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Which means, if you’re a Tame Impala fan, then chances are it’s right up your alley.

Vines frontman Craig Nichols has also announced a one-off solo show at Sydney’s Newtown Social Club on Thursday, 14th April to celebrate the release. The intimate acoustic performance will see the frontman performing songs spanning his entire career.

The Vines’ as-yet-untitled new album, meanwhile,  is due out “later this year”.
