Hot Hot Heat Announce Brand New Album Which Will Also Be Their Last

Canadian indie rock quartet Hot Hot Heat will release their fifth and final album this year according to a statement released by the band.

The band’s first album in six years – a self-titled LP – will drop in June. It will be made up of material written from 2011 to 2014.

Hot Hot Heat frontman Steve Bays said in the statement, “To be able to tour from 1999 to 2014 and play hundreds of shows a year was amazing. It changed all of our lives… I can relate to our fans and I respect our fans. They are the kind of people I’d hang out with.”

“I’m proud of every single record, and of finding the ground between making it challenging and fresh, but also not being afraid to be entertaining and put on a crazy show. Every show we ever did was just a total high energy spectacle and that’s a great legacy to have.”

The band have also unveiled new track Kid Who Stays in the Picture, which will feature on the forthcoming record. Listen to it below.

Hot Hot Heat’s last album Future Breeds was released in 2010. The band will drop a special 7-inch for Record Store Day on 16 April, which will feature the single Bobby Joan Sex Tape and an unreleased demo, Nature of Things
