Red Bull Is Launching A Monthly Gig In Sydney With Lineups Curated By Laneway And IOHYOU

Red Bull is launching a monthly live series in Sydney celebrating our pool of new talent as part of its Artist Development Program.

It’s part of Red Bull Sound Select which is dedicated to unearthing new artists through its streaming sites and monthly gigs worldwide. It was launched in 2012 in the USA and has since spread to Canada and is now in Australia too.

Red Bull Sound Select is officially launching in Sydney with monthly gigs curated by tastemakers IOHYOU’s Johann Ponniah and Laneway’s Travis Banko. IOHYOU are the label responsible for acts like DMA’s, Violent Soho and DZ Deathrays while Laneway is, of course, the touring festival which unearths the brightest talent every year.

For the first event, due to go down at the Chippendale Hotel on Friday, 29th April, they have lined-up Methyl Ethel to headline, Melbourne newcomers Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Sydney’s Flowertruck. They are also teasing some surprise guests.

Perth’s Methyl Ethel are one of the country’s biggest buzz bands right now. They toured with Laneway Festival earlier in the year and have just returned from a super successful run of gigs at South By South-West.

“We’re incredibly excited to be a part of bringing [Red Bull Sound Select] to Australian shores,” said IOHYOU’s Ponniah.

“Just hoping we can keep pushing the envelope like other curators have been internationally and program some of the best up and coming talent that Australia has to offer.”

We’ve left the best part until the end too. The tickets for the event are only $3 if you RSVP online and $10 if you cop one on the door.
