St. Vincent Is Making Her Own Horror Film

Art rock doyenne St. Vincent has turned yet another corner in her career: she’s now a movie maker.

St. Vincent – real name Annie Clark – has written and directed her own segment of XX, an anthology horror movie directed by and starring women. Joining St. Vincent in the director’s seat will be Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Aeon FluxJennifer’s Body), Jennifer Lynch (Surveillance), and Jovanka Vuckovic.

With a little help from a friend, Roxanne Benjamin, in writing her part, St. Vincent will be ready to begin shooting XX later this autumn. There is no release date set for XX yet.

As reported by The Wrap, XX gives each director total creative control to tell a story of their choosing, as long as it involves a female protagonist.

If all goes well, St. Vincent can now add film to the extensive list of things she’s good at doing, such as outrageous fashion, absolutely shredding, winning Grammys, even soccer and fronting Nirvana.
